Abbie, Rufus and Stacy

Sydney to Boston

Trip Overview

Owner: Stacy Hinten

Origin: Sydney

Pet Name: Abbie and Rufus

Destination: Boston

Breed: Labrador Retriever and Australian Kelpie

“Petraveller was helpful and accommodating.”

Petraveller relocated beautiful Labrador Retriever Abbie and handsome Australian Kelpie Rufus from Sydney to Boston during the COVID-19 pandemic. Pet mum Stacy talks about the special bond with her pets and explains why she chose Petraveller for the international pet relocation.

Stacy adopted Rufus from the RSPCA when he was about ten weeks old. Stacy says, “They weren’t sure of his breed and said he could be a Kelpie x Irish Wolfhound.” About six months later, Stacy got Abbie from a breeder when Abbie was ten weeks old.

Stacy recollects, “At first, Rufus was very skittish and timid, but I did a lot of socialising with him. I even joined a dog training club where he was able to gain more confidence. Rufus is a very sweet and gentle dog who loves snuggling up to people.”

Stacy adds, “When Rufus gets very excited, he jumps around. He is an escape artist and can jump over 6-foot fences!”

Abbie, on the other hand, is food-oriented. She also loves snuggles and enjoys a game of fetch. “Abbie enjoys carrying things in her mouth. Every night when she comes inside to go up into her crate to bed, she has to grab her teddy bear or any other large stuffed toy that she drags upstairs and into her crate to sleep with,” says Stacy with a smile.

Stacy has left for the United States to visit her boyfriend for a few months. She says, “My mum was looking after my dogs while I was away. While I was here, we decided to get married and that I would stay in the United States permanently. I immediately sent for my fur babies because rehoming my dogs was and will never be an option.”

Stacy realised that pet travel during a pandemic was complicated and decided to engage the services of a pet relocation agency to help her move Abbie and Rufus to the United States. She contacted several different companies through their webpages before deciding on Petraveller. Stacy says, “Many companies said they couldn’t help during the COVID-19 pandemic and others didn’t get back to me at all. Petraveller was very helpful and accommodating.”

We are happy to say that despite the pet travel challenges created by the COVID-19 pandemic, Rufus and Abbie reached their destination safely. Thank you, Stacy, for trusting Petraveller with the relocation of your beloved pets. Best wishes on the move and lots of hugs to Rufus and Abbie!
