“Alfie is the protector of the family, and Charlie is a bouncy, fun-loving Spaniel!”

Petraveller helped pet mum Laura relocate her handsome dogs, Alfie and Charlie, from Cairns to London. Read to know more about Alfie and Charlie and their international pet relocation story.

Laura rescued a Jack Russell x Fox Terrier, Alfie, as a puppy in Darwin about four years ago. Laura says fondly, “Alfie is the perfect addition to our family and loves a good cuddle. We call Alfie the protector of the family, and he takes that role very seriously! He barks at strangers thinking they are a threat, even if they are not!” 

She continues, “If you throw a ball at Alfie, he will be your best friend in seconds. He gets anxious sometimes and will often shake when he is in an environment, he’s unsure of or dislikes, like at the vet!”

Laura brought home Charlie, a Brittany Spaniel from a breeder in Dubbo when he was a puppy around three years ago. “We wanted a second dog to keep Alfie company,” says Laura. Charlie is a bouncy, fun-loving Spaniel. Laura laughs and shares, “Charlie loves playing and doesn’t realise that bouncing up and down in someone’s face is bad. He loves birds and, given a chance, will chase them all day long.”

Laura recalls a memorable incident, “We once let Charlie off the lead at the beach when the tide was way out, and we had to spent 20 minutes chasing him as his recall is terrible! He was having a great time chasing the birds on the beach.”

Laura was moving to London, United Kingdom, to be closer to her family. “Leaving Alfie and Charlie behind was never part of the conversation. They are a part of our family, and they go where we go,” says Laura.

Laura realised that relocating two pets across the world was not an easy task and decided to hand over the responsibility of managing the move to international pet transport professionals.
