Brisbane to Christchurch

Trip Overview

Owner: Kaylene Dowers

Origin: Brisbane

Pet Names: Angus, Colonel, Jai and Pepper

Destination: Christchurch

Breed: Weimaraner, Irish Wolfhound, Staffordshire Terrier and Smooth Fox

“Petraveller responded the fastest.”

Gorgeous canines, Angus, Colonel, Jai and Pepper, made their journey from Brisbane to Christchurch with Petraveller. Pet mum Kaylene talks about her pets and tells us why she chose Petraveller for the international pet transport.

Angus the Weimaraner was re-homed to the Dowers in 2018. Kaylene fondly says, “Angus always wants to be with me or my husband Peter and is very affectionate and loves his cuddles. He is low in energy and is an alpha male in the dog world but not aggressive or violent to humans.” She laughs and adds, “However, he is a big powerful dog, and I would not like to be confronted by Angus.”

Colonel, the Irish Wolfhound, is also of low energy with a very protective nature to Kaylene and her husband. Kaylene shares, “He protects the property and will bark and run at the fence if he hears or sees someone passing by.” She smiles and adds, “He has a Houdini escape artist nature, and this was the main reason he was re-homed. He has never tried to escape from us.”

Jai, the Staffordshire Terrier, was born in New Zealand and has been with the Dowers family since he was a puppy. Kaylene says, “We brought him to Australia in 2013 and are now returning home to New Zealand.” Jai is a quiet dog. He’s very protective and can become withdrawn if separated from Kaylene and her husband. He barks and gets upset when inspected or approached by a vet.

Pepper, the Fox Terrier, was re-homed to the Dowers family in 2019 as he attacked a neighbour’s dog when out walking and the dog died. However, the neighbour’s dog was off lead, and Pepper was on lead. Unfortunately, the owners felt they couldn’t face their neighbours if they still owned Pepper. Explaining Pepper’s temperament, Kaylene shares, “He’s a small aggressive dog who barks when alarmed, and nothing seems to stop him barking! He loves being close to my husband and me. He’s very treat oriented.”

Kaylene and her husband decided to move back home to New Zealand. Their furry family was travelling with them as the Dowers couldn’t imagine relocating without them.

Kaylene decided to take help from a pet transport company to handle the travel to spare herself from the tedious pet relocation process. She contacted Petraveller to help her with the pet relocation. Kaylene says, “Petraveller responded the fastest and were very helpful.”

Angus, Colonel, Jai and Pepper were absolute sweethearts on their international journey and are now well-settled in their home in Christchurch. Thank you, Kaylene for giving Petraveller the opportunity to relocate your beloved pets. We wish you happiness and a wonderful time with Angus, Colonel, Jai and Pepper in New Zealand.
