Cherry and Jacinta

Melbourne to Wellington

Trip Overview

Owner: Jacinta Roberts

Origin: Melbourne

Pet Name: Cherry

Destination: Wellington

Breed: Domestic Shorthair

“Cherry is a sassy and a cheeky girl.”

Petraveller relocated lovely Domestic Shorthair kitty Cherry from Melbourne to Wellington. Here’s proud mum Jacinta talking about her girl’s beautiful nature and what led her to Petraveller for the international pet relocation.

Jacinta brought Cherry home twelve years ago. She recalls, “Cherry’s mum stopped feeding her. So, I took her under my wing. I had to bottle feed her every 2-3 hours until she was 6-8 weeks old and do everything for her that a mother would normally do.” Jacinta smiles and adds, “Due to this reason, Cherry and I have a super close bond. She is my baby.”

Cherry and Jacinta have moved all across Victoria and haven’t been apart for more than a few days in the whole twelve years together. Jacinta says, “Everyone who meets Cherry always says she is definitely my cat. We seem to have the same attitude and mannerisms.”

Jacinta describes Cherry as a very sassy and a cheeky girl. She doesn’t like kids (hides from them) and is very shy when it comes to meeting new people. Jacinta says affectionately, “She has the world of trust in me and would let me do anything with her. She’s very clingy to me. Occasionally she is smoochy.”

Cherry does not act like she is twelve years old. When it comes to food, she’s a very fussy eater. Jacinta laughs and says, “So many people ask me if she is two or so, because of how energetic she is and how small she is.”

Jacinta was relocating to Wellington, New Zealand for work. She says, “I am excited to start my new life there.” It was obvious that Cherry would be following her human mum Jacinta as they share a close bond.

Like most pet parents, Jacinta was worried about Cherry’s journey to Wellington. She says, “I am worried that she will fret for me during the flight, and I am hoping everything will be okay.” Jacinta decided to seek assistance from an accredited pet relocation agency to relocate her pet safely to New Zealand and reached out to Petraveller. Jacinta says, “I contacted a few companies to relocate Cherry, but out of everyone that I spoke to, I didn’t feel the comfort that Cherry would be well looked after by any other company. I loved the video and photo updates of her journey.”

We are glad to say that Cherry had a fantastic flight from Melbourne to Wellington and is now well-settled in her new home. Thank you, Jacinta, we appreciate that you chose Petraveller for your pet's relocation. We wish you the best for your new beginnings and hope you make many happy memories with Cherry in Wellington.
