Como, Kip and Iain

Sydney to Auckland

Trip Overview

Owner: Iain Gibson

Origin: Sydney

Pet Name: Como and Kip

Destination: Auckland

Breed: Domestic Shorthair x2

“We had a good experience with Petraveller.”

Here’s the relocation story of a “purrfect” work-from-home buddy and a cat who eats like a vacuum cleaner.

Travel has become a significant challenge due to the COVID-19 pandemic, and pet travel is now more challenging than ever. Nonetheless, Petraveller relocated two cats, Como and Kip, from Sydney to Auckland. Pet dad Iain talks about his pets and explains why he chose Petraveller for the international pet relocation.

Como and Kip got a fresh lease of life when Iain adopted them back in 2008. Como is a shy black cat with a distinctive heart-shaped black mark around his nose. He’s a grazer, not a ravenous eater and likes to sleep most of the day. Iain says, “He’s generally not that aware of what’s happening around him.”

Kip, on the other hand, is not shy and is a big, intelligent tabby cat, who hates noise. He’s a ravenous eater but likes to sleep most of the day. “He is aware of his surroundings and might be quite scared on the day of travel. He may get travel sick”, says Iain.

Talking about Como’s behaviour, Iain shares, “Como’s very quiet and laidback, he’s an indoor cat by nature. He likes to be around me as I work from home. He loves to be warm, sitting in the morning and afternoon sunlight, and enjoys sleeping in boxes.”

Kip is an intelligent cat. He’s the boss and hunter of the family. He’s more of an outdoor cat. Iain laughs and says, “He’s always looking for food and eats like a vacuum cleaner!”

Iain and his partner Wendi were moving to Auckland, New Zealand. He says, “My partner is a Kiwi, and we plan to retire in New Zealand in about five years. Wendi’s job has finished and we are ready to start a new home and adventure in Auckland.” When the idea of relocation came up, Iain couldn’t think of leaving Como and Kip behind.

Iain decided to hire an international pet relocation company to make the journey more comfortable and less stressful for the cats. He was happy to partner with an accredited pet transport company like Petraveller. He says, “From the initial quote and discussions through the COVID situation, we have had a good experience with Petraveller.”

We are glad to say that despite the challenges during these trying times, Como and Kip made their journey with great ease. Thank you, Iain, for booking Petraveller for their pet relocation. We wish you lots of happiness and a fun time with Como and Kip in New Zealand.
