Donna, Bruce and Matthew

Melbourne to Christchurch

Trip Overview

Owner: Matthew De Joux

Origin: Melbourne

Pet Name: Donna and Bruce

Destination: Christchurch

Breed: Australian Kelpie and Mixed

“Petraveller had the best quote, and the presentation of paperwork was professional.”

Matthew was returning home from Melbourne to Christchurch, New Zealand. He reached out to Petraveller to assist him with his pets Donna and Bruce’s international pet relocation. He speaks about the special bond that he shares with his adorable pets and tells us why he was impressed with Petraveller’s services.

Matthew is a proud dad of two dogs, Donna and Bruce. Donna became a part of the De Joux family when she was nine weeks old in 2010. She came as a foster pup from an animal shelter. Matthew recalls, “We fell in love with her oversized ears and cute puppy eyes. She was and still is very intelligent, and so we were able to train her quickly and easily. We couldn’t part with her and decided to make her a part of our family.” He says sombrely, “In 2018, we found out she had a cancerous lump at the base of her tail. We had to get her tail amputated to get rid of it. Fortunately, we were able to save her.”

Bruce became a part of the De Joux family when he was nine months old. He was adopted from a shelter where he had been there for three months. Matthew says, “We tested his DNA, and he is a bit of everything — Staffy, Rotti, Mastiff, Boxer, Parsons Jack Russel, Corgi the list goes on. He has lupus which is why he has black pigment and hair missing from his nose.”

Donna is an energetic and sweet dog. She knows all her basic commands such as sit, drop, lie down, come and give. Donna is obsessed with fetch and herding the cat. At the end of the day, she loves to snuggle up on the couch or bed.

Speaking about Bruce, Matthew says, “Bruce is sweet; his thing is to have all the pats. If Donna is getting pats, he has to sneak in front of her and steal them. He loves a back and bum scratch. He is a big softy.”

The De Joux family were returning home to New Zealand to be closer to family and to bring up their children the Kiwi way with their cousins. Matthew began looking for an accredited international pet relocation company to guide him with the pet travel. As pet relocation can be a complex process, he wanted the best for his furry family members. Talking about his reason to choose Petraveller, Matthew says, “Petraveller had the best quote, which included a clear breakdown of fees. The presentation of paperwork was very professional.”

We are glad to say that Donna and Bruce made their journey from Melbourne to Christchurch in good health. Thank you, Matthew, for choosing Petraveller to relocate your dearest Donna and Bruce. We wish you and your fur babies loads of happiness!
