Dudley and Fiona

Melbourne to Paris

Trip Overview

Owner: Fiona Johnston

Origin: Melbourne

Pet Name: Dudley

Destination: Paris

Breed: Miniature Schnauzer

“Dudley is my companion and where I go he goes.”

Fiona and Dudley travelled to St. Andres, Paris from Australia. Fiona speaks about her pet travel experience with Petraveller.

Dudley has been with Fiona since he was eight weeks old. For the first four years of his life, he lived with Fiona on a beautiful bed and breakfast property that she ran in Yarra Valley. Fiona says, “At a very young age Dudley was introduced to lambs, calves, chooks, a goose, peacock, two cats and two alpacas and he very quickly became accepted by them all.” Since August 2016, Fiona and Dudley have been living in France and England where Dudley enjoys walking, and exploring the countryside, pubs, and cafés.

In March 2017, Fiona was in Australia for a visit and left Dudley behind with a friend. On one of his morning walks, Dudley decided to run down a fox hole and wouldn’t come out. Fiona recollects, “My friend got help from two farmers with their terriers and a tractor and a digger arrived shortly after. Nine hours later, after sending the two dogs down the burrow and them chasing out the fox, plus digging and drilling holes they finally found Dudley stuck firmly at the end of one of the fox runs. Needless to say he was very tired at the end of his ordeal and ever since that day I have my eyes firmly fixed on him at all times on our walks!”

Fiona has always wanted to live in France, and when the opportunity arose, she jumped at it. She says, “Dudley is my companion and where I go he goes. After doing my research, I realised that if and when I returned to Australia, it would be relatively stress-free for him to return as his quarantine time was only 10 days long. Moving to France also didn’t require any quarantine on Dudley’s arrival.”

Fiona chose Petraveller for the international pet relocation because of all the positive reviews she read online. She says, “I chose Petraveller because of the reviews I read, but mostly because of the team. They were exceptionally professional, friendly and at all times very supportive throughout the whole process. My phone calls were answered and any concerns or anxieties I had about moving Dudley so far away, were always dealt with calmly and full of reassurance. Having video messages sent to me and emails during Dudley’s trip reassured me that he was coping very well with his long trip. Thank you again Petraveller.”

Fiona now lives in the South West of England with Dudley where he has a wonderful life as he is able to visit shops, cafés and even the local butcher with Fiona. She says, “Dudley has settled in very well mainly because the French and the British are such great dog lovers and accept dogs readily. He has many canine friends and he enjoys sharing long walks with them.”

Fiona is very happy with Petraveller’s service during Dudley’s relocation to Europe. She says, “I would definitely use Petraveller again and recommend them to anyone considering moving their pet overseas.”

Thank you, Fiona, for trusting us with sweet Dudley and wishing you and Dudley some great adventures in Europe!
