Fanta, Alba and Sarah

Sarah reached out to Petraveller for the relocation of her cute Domestic Long Hair, Fanta and Shar Pei cross, Alba from Melbourne to Auckland. Here’s their pet relocation story.

Alba joined Sarah’s family about eight years ago when Sarah arrived in Melbourne. Sarah says, “She has always been with me, except when I have gone travelling. She suffers from slight separation anxiety and is quite nervous around strangers.”

Fanta is a very friendly Long Haired Domestic cat. Sarah has had her since Fanta was a kitten and she has moved a couple of times with Sarah.

Talking about Alba, Sarah says, “She is afraid of men at first and prefers women most of the time. She does not like people approaching her. The best way to get on Alba’s good side is to let her come to you and figure you out before jumping at her with pats, etc.” 

Elaborating further, she says, “We have always had someone come into our home to pet sit as this is where Alba is most comfortable. She is a friendly dog. When it comes to strangers, she needs time to sniff and get acquainted. This is going to be a big move for her.”

Fanta, on the other hand, has a great personality. She loves cuddles and people. She will meow a lot initially in the cage but then settles down pretty quickly. Fanta and Alba get on very well.

Sarah and her partner were moving back home to Auckland, New Zealand. Sarah had a baby recently and wanted to be closer to family during the COVID pandemic. “We are going back home to be with family for support,” says Sarah, and Alba and Fanta were moving with them.

Sarah was anxious about putting her pets through an international trip of that length, especially since Alba suffers from separation anxiety.
