Fergal, Emer and Geraldine

Melbourne to Dublin

Trip Overview

Owner: Geraldine Burns

Origin: Melbourne

Pet Names: Fergal and Emer

Destination: Dublin

Breed: German Pointers

“The information in Petraveller’s quote was clear and concise.”

Petraveller relocated two gorgeous German Pointers, Fergal and Emer, from Melbourne to Dublin. Pet mum Geraldine talks about her pets and tells us why she booked Petraveller for their international pet relocation.

Fergal has been a part of Geraldine’s family since he was eight weeks old. Geraldine says, “He was our first dog and was on his own until we got Emer when he was twelve months old. He has always lived in Melbourne and has never travelled on a plane. He has been well socialised and went to dog training for two years going through to advanced training.”

Emer joined Geraldine’s family when she was eight weeks old. Geraldine says, “She joined us as a second dog when Fergal was twelve months old. Like Fergal, she has always lived in Melbourne and has never travelled on a plane. She has also been well socialised and went to dog training for her first year.”

Geraldine adores her pet Fergal. She says, “Fergal loves everybody and thinks everyone should be his best friend. At 30kg, he thinks he is a lapdog and will try to sit on you.” Fergal goes to doggy day-care every week and gets along with all other dogs. His favourite things are tennis balls and any squeaky toy. He will run all day if someone is throwing him a tennis ball. Geraldine shares, “Fergal suffered from separation anxiety as a young pup but has not shown any serious signs of this for several years now.”

On the other hand, Emer is initially cautious when meeting new people, but does not take long to warm up to you. Emer loves to retrieve and will happily spend all day chasing and retrieving anything, especially tennis balls. Geraldine says, “Emer has a high prey drive and gets very excited when she sees wildlife like possums, birds, rabbits and kangaroos. If they move, she wants to chase and lets the whole world know by shrieking her excitement of the potential to chase.”

Emer is highly food motivated, can be distracted with food and will do anything for food. “She is highly strung and does not like change. She will be anxious until the change is the new norm,” says Geraldine.

Geraldine was moving back to her home in Dublin, Ireland, to be with her family. She says, “Fergal and Emer are a part of the family, and had to come with us.”

Geraldine decided to take the assistance of a pet transport company to relocate her pets to Dublin. Before reaching out to Petraveller, Geraldine got in touch with two other animal transport companies. She says, “All the companies replied in a similar amount of time as Petraveller and the quotes were not very different. I found Petraveller’s first contact, and the information provided in that first quote, was clear and concise. It gave me answers to most of the things I had questions about and made me feel they knew what I would be worried about.”

Geraldine continues, “The other companies had quotes and some details on the process. But based on my previous research on the whole process, I felt they did not provide me with the details I felt I needed to be comfortable with my pets travelling with them. I felt all my follow up questions were well dealt with by Petraveller. In some instances, my follow up questions were not answered by the other companies.”

Fergal and Emer had a fabulous journey and made it safely to Dublin. Geraldine is extremely satisfied with the pet travel experience. She says, “Fergal and Emer love their new life in Ireland. I can’t believe how well they have travelled and it does not seem to have taken anything out of them. Thank you, Petraveller, for getting through a very stressful time.”

Thank you, Geraldine, for trusting Petraveller with your dear pets. We wish you happiness and many amazing adventures with Fergal and Emer in Ireland.
