Grim, Phantom and Brodie

Maroochydore to Houston

Trip Overview

Owner: Brodie Kirwan

Origin: Maroochydore

Pet Name: Grim and Phantom

Destination: Houston

Breed: Domestic Shorthair

“Leaving our cats behind was never an option.”

Brodie and his two cats Grim and Phantom relocated from Maroochydore to Houston with Petraveller. Brodie narrates his pet’s relocation experience and tells us why he chose Petraveller.

Brodie adopted Grim and Phantom, who he rescued from a clinic where his partner was working in the United States of America about two years ago. Grim was about one week old, and Phantom was six weeks old when they joined Brodie. He says fondly, “They’ve grown up together and are best buds.” In November 2018, Brodie and his partner moved to Australia. He says, “I had to bring both my pets with us, which was quite expensive but 100% worth it.”

Grim is very cautious and skittish, so some people don’t get to see his friendly side. Brodie smiles and says, “When it’s just us, he loves to curl up in our lap and sleep. He spends most of his time looking for a place in the sun to lay and be lazy. He loves snacking too.” He recalls, “The first day we brought him home, he crawled into a bag of chips that I was eating to steal some chips. He’s a legend, just a bit fearful in new situations.”

Phantom, on the other hand, is sweet and incredibly curious and playful. Brodie laughs and says, “There are times we don’t know what goes on in his mind. He loves watching birds from windows and tries to tear down our blinds while chasing insects. He also loves to eat, and he’ll eat just about anything.” He adds, “He is the opposite of Grim when it comes to new people, as he is always interested and friendly with strangers.”

Brodie’s partner had to return to the US because of visa complications. He says, “We thought it was best to get my boys back over to the US, as my partner loves the boys so much. The plan is for me to join them at a later date. It isn’t ideal to put them through the stress of the journey again, but leaving them behind was never an option.”

Brodie contacted the pet transport agency who helped him move Grim and Phantom to Australia. He says, “When I realised we were going to have to make the journey again, I contacted the same company we used earlier. They referred me to Petraveller.”

We are happy to say that Grim and Phantom had an incredible journey. Thank you, Brodie, for putting your faith in Petraveller, and allowing us to fly your precious kitties.
