“Petraveller answered my questions and kept me updated on things in a COVID world.”
Domestic Shorthair Hugo was a brave traveller who travelled from Sydney to Auckland with Petraveller. Read to know more about Hugo and his international pet relocation story.
Hugo and his siblings were rescued by a jogger in Melbourne. Jane reminisces, “Hugo was one of six kittens rescued by the jogger. Unfortunately, he could not catch the mum. All six kittens were delivered to a vet in Melbourne who used to be my other cat’s vet. That’s where I met Hugo. His name was Bobby at that time because the vet staff called the six kittens by the Brady Bunch names.”
Jane continues, “He was tiny with a big head, and a short tail. He was a tiny kitten with a big personality. The name Bobby did not fit him and I changed it to Hugo. My other cat China passed away at the end of 2019, so it’s now just Hugo and me starting a new life for ourselves in New Zealand.”
Jane describes Hugo as a beautiful little man. She says, “He will be a little cautious of you in the beginning, but if you speak softly to him and let him come to you initially for cuddles, then he will be okay.”
Jane was anxious about Hugo’s pet travel because of his health issues. She says, “Being nearly fifteen years old, he has slight arthritis in his back legs, and he gets stressed when his routine changes. When he is stressed, he will groom himself more and vomit up fur balls which is not a good thing for him. In the past, he has suffered from pancreatitis and inflammatory bowel disease, but is in remission now. The build-up of fur can irritate these conditions.”
After living in Australia, Jane was moving back to her homeland in Auckland, New Zealand. Leaving Hugo behind was unthinkable for Jane.
Jane was very concerned about putting her fur baby through an international trip of that length. She decided to seek assistance from a professional team who are experts in handling international pet relocations. After approaching a few companies, Jane reached out to Petraveller for the pet transport. She says, “I found that Petraveller was much more personable, answered my questions well, and kept me updated on things in a COVID world, which were very much appreciated indeed.”
Thank you, Jane, for trusting Petraveller with your precious fur baby Hugo. We wish you good luck for the future and lots of cuddles to dear Hugo.
