Jatz and Jacquelyn

Sydney to Chicago

Trip Overview

Owner: Jacquelyn Grucella

Origin: Sydney

Pet Name: Jatz

Destination: Chicago

Breed: Domestic Shorthair

“Every person I spoke to at Petraveller clearly loves all the pets they transport.”

Petraveller helped pet mum Jacquelyn relocate her precious Domestic Shorthair cat Jatz from Sydney to Chicago, United States of America. Read to know more about the special bond that Jacquelyn and Jatz share and their international pet travel experience.

Jacquelyn knew that Jatz was the one the very first time she saw her. Jacquelyn recollects, “All the other cats in her enclosure rushed up to me wanting chicken. But Jatz just stayed back eyeing me suspiciously, much too nervous about approaching! I asked the volunteer about her, and she immediately became upset. She told me that because Jatz was six months old and very shy and untrusting, no one wanted to adopt her. They would have to euthanise her within a month due to overcrowding at the shelter.”

Jacquelyn and Jatz have had a heart-warming bond right from day one. She recalls, “I decided to give Jatz a forever home and become her human right then. When they tried to pick her up and put her in her crate, she jumped out of the volunteer’s arms and went back into her enclosure. I picked her up, held her tight to my chest and hummed her a song. I immediately felt her little body relax against mine. We’ve been best friends ever since and she still loves it when I sing to her!”

Jatz is a shy girl who was badly abused as a small kitten. She doesn’t trust other people because of her past. Jacquelyn says, “I speak to her in a gentle, quiet tone when she’s feeling uncomfortable and let her do her own thing. She just needs some extra assurance that she’s going to be safe with whoever she may be around.

After living in Australia for seven years, Jacquelyn was moving back home to Chicago, United States of America to be closer to family. She was taking Jatz along as Jacquelyn couldn’t imagine moving without her beloved little girl.

Jacquelyn looked for several pet relocation companies both in Australia and the United States to help her with Jatz’s relocation. She says, “I had a few questions on what to expect but no one wanted to answer my questions. It felt like a sales pitch, and I felt like I wasn’t going to get any information without paying them something. When I called Petraveller, they spent a long time on the phone with me, going through the process and what needed to be done. Every person I spoke to at Petraveller clearly loves all the pets they transport.”

Jaquelyn continues, “It is evident that Petraveller sees the pets as family, and that means the world to someone like myself. Petraveller reassured me that Jatz will be safe and well taken care of and took out all the stress out of the relocation of my beloved little girl. I can’t express my gratitude enough. Petraveller is an amazing group of people dedicated to helping our fur babies have the most seamless experience possible.”

Jatz had a fantastic flight from Sydney to Chicago and was a very well-behaved passenger. Jaquelyn was extremely happy with the pet travel experience. She says, “Relocating is stressful during the best of times, and doing it with your beloved pet makes it even harder. Petraveller was patient, kind and answered the million questions I had at any given moment. I was able to relax on my flight because they updated me every step of the way. Thank you, Petraveller for dealing with my crazy, constant questions. You guys are incredible.”

Thank you, Jacquelyn, for trusting us with the international travel of your precious pet, and we appreciate your kind words. We wish you good luck on the move and lots of cuddles to cute Jatz.
