Juno, Reddington, Zeus, Bella and Liz

Brisbane to Auckland

Trip Overview

Owner: Liz Buckley

Origin: Brisbane

Pet Name: Juno, Reddington, Zeus and Bella

Destination: Auckland

Breed: Bull Terrier Cross, Bitzer Terrier Cross, Domestic Shorthair and Sphynx

“Petraveller came in highly recommended.”

Liz booked Petraveller to relocate her four fur kids from Brisbane to Auckland. She talks passionately about her pets and tells us what led her to Petraveller for the international pet travel.

Juno, a Bull Terrier Cross, joined the Buckley family in 2014. A rescue dog from the Auckland SPCA, Juno is a quiet, independent girl who is shy around strangers. Liz says, “Juno is a very gentle, loving girl. She is very protective of us humans, especially our son!”

Reddington, a Bitzer Terrier Cross, was adopted from a rescue organisation that took him from someone who was breeding dogs to fight. Liz says, “Reddington was supposed to be going to a farm, but that home fell over, and we were lucky enough to get him.”

Liz laughs and says, “Red is a walking tongue, he licks everything and is tail driven, he wags it constantly. He is so eager to please that he is totally hopeless at trick training as he does them all in one go! He is also a bit of a policeman with Juno and prefers her to only play with him.” Liz shares, “Red has idiopathic head tremors, and we have no idea what causes them. A bit on honey on his gums works wonders.”

Zeus, a Domestic Shorthair, joined Liz's family after she lost her big old boy Panther and needed to have another presence in the house. Liz smiles as she recalls, “Zeus picked me by climbing up my leg and lying on his back in my arms purring. How could I say no?”

Talking of his quirky nature, Liz shares, “Zeus is a bit of a drama queen, and will certainly let you know he is unhappy. He is the type of cat that cries if there is less than a centimetre of food in his bowl! He is a dribbler and loves cuddles, on his terms.”

Last but not least is Bella, the Sphynx, who came to the Buckley family via a breeder, who had to rehome her. Talking about Bella's quirks, Liz says, “Bella is a total classic! I have never had a cat like her. She completely rules the roost and the dogs and everything else. Her favourite thing is her cat pod. She loves to sleep in it no matter where it is, upside down, top of the couch, it doesn't matter she will find a way in!” Liz laughs and adds, “Bella is a bit high maintenance. She will probably try to fly the plane if she gets the chance!”

The Buckley family were moving back home to Auckland, New Zealand, to be with their family. Liz says, “Leaving our fur kids behind was never an option for us.”

Liz contacted Petraveller to handle the pet travel from Brisbane to Auckland. She says, “We chose Petraveller as it came in as a recommendation and also because you were the only ones who replied.”

We are pleased to say that Juno, Reddington, Zeus and Bella made it safely to Auckland and are getting used to the Kiwi way of life. Thank you, Liz, for trusting us with your fur kids. Here's wishing you and your fur babies lots of fun adventures in New Zealand.
