Millie and Rebecca

Sydney to Auckland

Trip Overview

Owner: Rebecca Brown

Origin: Sydney

Pet Name: Millie

Destination: Auckland

Breed: Domestic Shorthair

“Millie is a very happy cat.”

Rebecca and her darling pet Millie moved from Sydney to Auckland with Petraveller. Rebecca talks about her pet’s personality and shares her international pet travel experience with Petraveller.

Millie is an eight-year-old Domestic Shorthair cat. The Brown family brought Millie home as a rescue kitten. Rebecca says, “Millie is a very happy cat who is happy at home and being near us at all times. However, she is not used to other animals or change, so she will be nervous during her trip.”

Speaking of her cat’s likes and dislikes, Rebecca goes on to share, “Millie likes her jaw scratched lightly and loves being petted. She doesn’t like being alone or near other animals and is happiest when she is close to a person. As I work from home a lot, Millie is always near me. She is very well behaved and never scratches. Even when she is nervous or terrified, she will only meow.”

Rebecca and her pet cat Millie were moving to Auckland, New Zealand. “My husband is currently in Auckland for work. With COVID, it is better we move there as commuting is not an option. Millie is a much-loved part of our family, and leaving her behind was never an option,” says Rebecca.

Rebecca started looking out for a reputed pet transport company to help relocate Millie safely to Auckland. She had previously used the services of another pet transport agency to transport Millie to Darwin and had a nightmarish experience. Rebecca says, “The main issues lay with no communication. They lied when we asked what had happened, which is even worse blaming other people. They had not booked a flight for Millie to Darwin, and she went on a trip around Australia for 12 hours on multiple flights instead of 4.5 hours. There was no apology, and my husband ended up picking up a distraught, filthy cat at 1am. The bad experience has made us quite nervous with the whole process.”

Having had a terrible experience in the past, Rebecca wanted a pet travel agency who are honest and responsible. She reached out to a few pet travel agencies for a quote. Rebecca says, “The other company did not break down the costs as Petraveller did. They also didn’t think communication during the journey was important, which was a red flag because communication during the journey is a top requirement for me.”

Rebecca decided to partner with Petraveller for Millie’s relocation from Sydney to Auckland. She says, “Communication is key for us, since we know our cat will be anxious. We chose Petraveller because of the feedback and the positive reviews on communication through the process and journey.”

Millie had a stress-free flight and landed safely in Auckland. Thank you, Rebecca, for trusting Petraveller with your dear Millie. Best wishes on the move!
