Naboo, Felipe and Federica

“These cats are our family”

Federica and her two cats Felipe and Naboo moved to Singapore from Sydney with Petraveller. Federica talks about why the kitties are so important to her family and her international pet relocation experience to Singapore with Petraveller.

Felipe came into Federica’s life in January 2018 when she was volunteering with a fostering association in Sydney and decided to make him a permanent part of her family. Federica recollects, “When we got into the kittens' enclosure, he approached us and started rubbing against us and looked at us as if to ask ‘are you my humans now?"

About a month after Felipe became a part of their family, they received an emergency call to foster a tiny ten-day old kitten, Naboo. She needed a lot of care and had to be bottle-fed around the clock. When the kitten was about three months old, Federica decided to interview potential adopters to find a good home for Naboo. It was easier said than done because they quickly realised how attached they were to Naboo. Federica remembers, “Since she was abandoned at such a young age, she was (and still is) a bit of a wild kitten and would not have accepted any other cat but Felipe.” The Pelosos decided to keep her and they became a family of four.

It wasn’t very easy fostering Naboo as she was only 175 grams when the Pelosos welcomed her into their family. She learned how to be a cat by watching Felipe closely. The cats are the best of friends and inseparable. Federica says, “Felipe is her mama cat and we cannot separate them. If she’s in a room and he’s somewhere else, she cries till he comes back!”

The Peloso family had to relocate to Singapore for work and were very sure that they would bring the cats with them. Federica says, “We don’t have children yet and these cats are our family. They have helped me through some dark times and filled our lives with happiness. I wouldn’t have moved without them.”

When the family decided to move to Singapore, Federica began her search for a pet travel expert to help them with the move. She says, “I did thorough research and compared many potential companies.
