“Petraveller cared about our pets.”

Relocating pets with health problems can often be a cause for concern for pet owners. Here’s the relocation story of Nilfisk and Dyson who travelled from Melbourne to Amsterdam with Petraveller.

Nilfisk is a Labrador Retriever, and Dyson is a Domestic Shorthair Cat. Andrea recalls, “We got Nilfisk about eight years ago from a little family farm near Ballarat. Out of the seven puppies, he was hiding under a bush and looking at us with his gorgeous puppy eyes while his siblings were jumping around everywhere. We knew immediately he was a perfect fit!”

Dyson was adopted when he was a little kitten in the Netherlands. Andrea says, “I have always had pets growing up and always wanted one of my own as soon as I had my place to live. My now husband lovingly agreed even though he never had pets while growing up as he asthmatic.”

When Nilfisk was about two years old, he had his first epileptic seizure. Andrea says, “He has never been on any medication for his seizures. As he was still quite young, we decided, with the vet, to track his seizures instead. He was having a seizure once in six weeks when we made changes in his diet. Since then, there has been a tremendous improvement, and he only has had a handful of seizures in the last year.” Otherwise, Nilfisk is a cheerful doggy who loves to go to the beach or visit the park. Andrea says “He loves the beach! He’s also always the first one in the water no matter what time of year.”

When Andrea moved to Melbourne bringing Dyson along was a no-brainer. Unfortunately, during his last medical check-up before flying, the vet discovered Dyson had a heart murmur. Andrea recalls, “We still decided to fly him over as the vet told us he would be good to travel. We are very happy that the murmur hasn’t progressed since, which means that we can bring him back with us.”

Two pets and three children later, Andrea and her husband decided it was time to head back home to Amsterdam. She says, “When we moved to Melbourne on work, we had decided to stay for at least a year. It has been nine years in, and we’re missing our family.” Leaving their pets behind was never an option. Andrea says, “Unless it would’ve been too risky for them health-wise, they were definitely coming with us. Luckily this isn’t the case as that would’ve been tough to deal with.”

Andrea chose Petraveller to relocate her pets from Melbourne to Amsterdam. She says, “When I spoke to one of the agents, it sounded like they cared. Other pet relocation companies felt more like a business.”

We are happy to say we safely relocated Nilfisk and Dyson from Melbourne to Amsterdam. Thank you, Andrea, for trusting us with your precious pets. We are sure Nilfisk and Dyson will love Amsterdam and its great outdoors.
