Oslo and Laura

Sydney to Wellington

Trip Overview

Owner: Laura Fraser

Origin: Sydney

Pet Name: Oslo

Destination: Wellington

Breed: Jack Russell Terrier cross Cattledog

“Dealing with Petraveller felt personal and not like a transaction.”

We got the opportunity of relocating handsome Oslo from Sydney to Wellington. We had a quick word with Laura about her doggie and she more than happy to talk about the the relocation experience.

Laura was looking to adopt a dog for quite some time but hadn’t found the right one. Meanwhile, someone was looking to rehome a puppy on Gumtree. She says, “Oslo looked so anxious in all the pictures, and we just knew he was ours. The people who had Oslo loved him, but he wasn’t coping with their other dog. Oslo was very anxious and needed a lot of attention; they didn’t have time for that.”  Laura adds, “I’m still in touch with Oslo’s first family, and recently sent an update on his first birthday to let them know how he was doing.”

Oslo used to be terrified of new people at home and outside, but now that has changed and he is happy to meet new faces.” Laura adds, “He doesn’t tremble as much anymore, and he’s just an all-round happy boy with loads of personality.” Oslo loves to nap in sunny patches. He loves anything that squeaks. Laura says, “He is always a happy boy, who is always excited to see us when we get home. He loves to do zoomies to show us his affection.”

Despite his loud and energetic behaviour, Oslo is sensitive. Laura says, “He keeps my partner and me in check. Whenever we argue Oslo takes it personally and gets upset. He’ll often put his ears back, get down low and tremble like he thinks we’re mad at him. It forces us to stop being stupid and makeup so that Oslo doesn’t have to be sad.”

Oslo has had a lot of puppy nightmares, and Laura has worked hard to make him feel safe. “We have our own routine. He checks in all the time to make sure I’m doing okay. Every morning when he gets up, he comes to the side of the bed for a pat before he goes downstairs to go outside. It’s very cute..” says Laura.

Laura and her partner were relocating to Wellington for work. She says, “All three of us love adventure. Oslo comes on as many hikes as we can take him on. We decided it was time for a new adventure, and when my partner got his dream job in New Zealand, we couldn’t say no.”

Laura reached out to Petraveller after a pet travel agency in New Zealand recommended the company. She says, “I spoke to one of the consultants at Petraveller, he was very reassuring. He answered all my questions at least three times over without getting frustrated. The conversation had a personal touch and was not like a transaction. I knew immediately that Oslo was going to be treated with consideration, and not just like a piece of furniture.”

Oslo had a pleasant flight and is happily enjoying his new surroundings. We thank you, Laura, for believing in us and letting us fly sweet Oslo from Sydney to Wellington. We wish you good luck and many more adventures with Oslo out there in New Zealand.
