Percival and Sara

Sydney to London

Trip Overview

Owner: Sara Boughton

Origin: Sydney

Pet Name: Percival

Destination: London

Breed: Himalayan

Percival is a very playful, friendly, and very needy cat.”

Petraveller relocated a lovely Himalayan cat Percival from Sydney to London. Here’s pet mum Sara talking about her cat’s personality and what led her to Petraveller for Percival’s international pet travel.

Percival was a rescue cat, who got a forever home when Sara adopted him in May 2015. Sara recollects, “A work colleague was asked to foster Percival for a weekend as he’d been dumped by his previous owner at an animal hospital after their dog had attacked him. He was unable to take Percy and asked if I could take him for a few days.”

Sara continues, “When I collected him, despite him being in a bit of a state, he started purring as soon as we met. I knew I’d be taking him home with no intention of bringing him back after the weekend. So, I immediately started the adoption process.”

Percival is a very playful and friendly cat, but is also very needy. Sara laughs and shares, “Percival loves being brushed and cuddled, as long as he is the centre of attention, he is happy. Since I have been working from home during COVID, he’s become needier and dislikes it if I am on the telephone or Skype/Zoom and giving someone else attention. He’s very loyal, but is easily swayed if he is offered treats.”

Percival is rather dog-like in that he knows a few words and commands. Sara says, “He knows the word biscuits and expects a treat if he hears the word being spoken. He also will sit if told to do so before having a treat. Percival loves going to the groomer and having a haircut, but isn’t a big fan of having the bath and blow-dry.”

Sara is originally from London and was moving back there for work and to be close to her family. Leaving Percival behind did not cross her mind at all as they are so close. Sara was anxious about Percival’s long-distance flight.

Arranging an intercontinental move for your pet is quite a challenge. Like most pet parents, Sara was concerned about her pet being away from her for a prolonged period of time and going through a journey of that length. Therefore, Sara decided to hire an international pet transport company to handle Percival’s pet travel. She says, “I called Petraveller for a quote and spoke to them at length about the process behind the booking and end-to-end travelling, and felt very comfortable and confident with how Percival would be cared for.”

We are glad to say that Percival had a fantastic flight and is busy settling in his new home. Sara is more than happy with the pet travel experience. She says, “Thanks to Petraveller I have a happy, healthy, well-travelled pet with me.”

Thank you, Sara, for trusting Petraveller and giving us the opportunity to take care of your precious pet on his long journey. We wish you a great life ahead with lots of fun and laughter with adorable Percival.
