Roxy and Clare

Brisbane to Wellington

Trip Overview

Owner: Clare Harvey

Origin: Brisbane

Pet Name: Roxy

Destination: Wellington

Breed: Rhodesian Ridgeback

“Roxy is very special to us.”

Rhodesian Ridgeback Roxy was given a new lease of life when Clare adopted her from the RSPCA. Pet mum Clare chats about Roxy and why she chose Petraveller for Roxy’s international pet transport to Wellington.

Roxy is a rescue dog who was found wandering the streets as a little puppy in Napier, New Zealand. She lived at the RSPCA for the first seven months of her life till Claire adopted her. Clare recollects, “We found Roxy through an ad that RSPCA had put up. We met her, and since then, she has been a part of our family. Roxy has travelled with us from Hawkes Bay to Queensland and moved two cities in Mackay and the Townsville.”

Roxy is a typical Boxer, she loves to play but does have the possessiveness of the Ridgeback. Clare says proudly, “Roxy is very bright and picks cues up very quickly. She listens very well, will wait, sit, leave it, and so on. She tends to pull on the lead, so we use a harness rather than the collar. While Roxy is on her walks, she gets excited when she sees other dogs and wants to play. She usually listens, but her ears drop off if there is another dog to play with.”

Roxy is very special. Clare explains, “As Roxy is very strong, I have taught her to sit and wait while other dogs pass. So, now, if she sees a dog a mile away, she sits, and we wait until they go by. She walks close to us in crowded places, which is more to do with being a Nervous Nelly! Roxy is very friendly and gentle and will lick you to death if you let her.”

Talking about her pet’s nature, Clare says, “Roxy is an inside dog and shares the bed with us if it is cold. She starts in her basket but never stays there long. Roxy is a Nervous Nelly but is ok as long as she is close to us. She loves being close, like right next to you, touching, close.”

Clare and her family were returning home to Wellington, New Zealand with Roxy. “We left New Zealand for my work as I had a contract in Queensland.”

Clare decided to use the services of an international pet relocation company to help relocate her pet safely to Wellington. Having used Petraveller before, Clare confidently reached out to Petraveller a second time to organise Roxy’s journey from Australia to New Zealand.

Roxy had a great flight and made it to Wellington in great spirits. Thank you, Clare, for placing your trust in Petraveller once more. We wish you a life full of happiness and fun adventures with Roxy in New Zealand.
