Rushi, Susu and Holly

Sydney to Auckland

Trip Overview

Owner: Holly Buttress

Origin: Sydney

Pet Names: Rushi and Susu

Destination: Auckland

Breed: Domestic Shorthair cats

“Rushi has let little Susu into his heart.”

Petraveller relocated two adorable cats, Rushi and Susu, from Sydney to Auckland. Pet mum Holly talks about her cats and explains why she chose Petraveller for the pet relocation.

Rushi joined Holly’s family in January 2019 from the Black Town animal holding facility. Holly fondly says, “He likes to be where we are, and will happily sit on a lap, or beside us for some snuggling.”

Holly brought Susu home in January 2020, as she decided that Rushi could do with a companion. After searching through a rescue website, Holly found Susu –a scared former street urchin who needed a brother and a new home.

Speaking of Rushi’s brave nature, Holly says, “He’s a typical ginger boy, and can be boisterous at times. He is quick to calm down and loves human companionship. He is curious, and usually very brave and not scared of new humans. He’s not always quick friends with other cats, but has let our little Susu into his heart.” Rushi is not food motivated but will do almost anything for a cream treat. His favourite toys are balls and kickers.

On the other hand, Susu is very gentle and timid. She’s frightened of new humans, but is very trusting, and will likely shake like a rabbit. “Given a chance, she will hide until the new humans are gone, and will come out for food and water once the coast is clear. Once you’ve gained her trust, she is the sweetest little thing. She loves cuddles and purrs for hours on end,” says Holly. Playtime is Susu’s favourite time of the day, and she’ll even brave new humans if there’s a piece of string involved.

Holly and her family were relocating to Wellington, New Zealand with their cats. She says, “We never thought of leaving our cats behind. They’re our family, and we promised them both forever homes when we took them in.”

Organising an intercontinental move is hectic. Therefore, Holly decided to hand over the relocation of her pets to an experienced pet travel agency. She got in touch with Petraveller for the pet transport. She says, “Petraveller has good online reviews and was cheaper than the competition. The fact that Petraveller had a local office was an added bonus.”

We are delighted to say that Rushi and Susu had a fantastic flight and are busy now exploring their new home in Auckland. Thank you, Holly, for trusting Petraveller with your dear kitties. We wish you a good life ahead and big hugs to sweet Rushi and Susu!
