Shilah and Sue

Melbourne to Auckland

Trip Overview

Owner: Sue Wilkinson

Origin: Melbourne

Pet Name: Shilah

Destination: Auckland

Breed: Border Collie x Golden Retriever

“Shilah is very healthy, happy and totally doted on.”

Many people around the world moved back home because of the global COVID-19 pandemic. Sue and her Border Collie, Shilah moved home to Auckland from Melbourne with Petraveller. Read to know more about Shilah and her pet relocation story.

Sue brought home Shilah, a Border Collie x Golden Retriever, when Shilah was eight weeks old. Sue recollects, “Shilah was weaned from her mum and was eating a raw food diet which we have maintained all her life. She’s very healthy, happy and totally doted on.”

Shilah is a perfect mix of both the breeds. Sue explains, “Shilah is a very playful, full of energy Border Collie when out playing, and a very relaxed chilled Golden Retriever when she is at home.”

Shilah is not a big fan of loud and strange noises. Sue says, “She doesn’t like wheelie bins, plastic bag noises, and can get startled sometimes. Shilah loves to roll in the smelliest, most disgusting thing she can ever find when off-leash!”

Sue speaks fondly about Shilah, “If my husband and I leave the house together for her walk and one of us needs to go to a shop or toilet whilst out, she won’t move until we are back together. She knows if any of us are upset and comes and sits beside us and puts her head on our lap. We love her to bits, and she is such a calm dog and doesn’t bark either.”

After living in Australia for seven years, the Wilkinson family was moving back home to Auckland, New Zealand. Sue says, “We are going back to be with our big family because of COVID-19.” As a devoted pet parent, leaving Shilah behind was not an option for Sue.

Sue was an ex-airline staff, and was quite aware of the process that involves relocating pets. She was concerned that the heat and noise of the aircraft while Shilah was being boarded and waiting to depart would cause Shilah anxiety. Sue decided to engage the services of an international pet transport company to help her relocate Shilah, as she wanted her pet to arrive home safe and stress-free. Sue says, “I reached out to Petraveller on the recommendation from a friend who had used Petraveller before and because of the amazing reviews.”

Shilah had a good flight and reached Auckland safely and in great spirits. Thank you, Sue, for trusting Petraveller with your precious girl Shilah. We wish you the best, and hope you have a wonderful time with Shilah and your family in Auckland.
