Smokey and Pollyanne

Brisbane to Wellington

Trip Overview

Owner: Pollyanne Smith

Origin: Brisbane

Pet Name: Smokey

Destination: Wellington

Breed: Burmese

“Smokey is a comfort in my life and is truly a wonderful pet.”

Petraveller relocated Pollyanne’s darling Burmese cat, Smokey, from Brisbane to Wellington. Pollyanne talks about her pet’s heart-warming personality and tells us why she used Petraveller for the international pet transport

Burmese kitty Smokey was a Valentine’s Day present to Pollyanne. Pollyanne smiles as she recalls, “I had never owned a cat previously but fell in love with Smokey as soon as I saw him. He was so tiny and had a squeaky little sound, I couldn’t help but love him. He rests with me and squeaks when he wants to go to the toilet. After training him, he loves sleeping next to me, and I usually wake up with him being at the top of my pillow. He loves cuddles and makes me feel I need to give him lots more love.”

Pollyanne adds, “Smokey has now grown and appears to have a strong attitude. At times he is quite demanding, and his squeak is now like a loud cry. When he is hungry, he likes me to sit with him when he is having his meal. If he’s out in the evening, he will knock on the door until we open to let him in, then he will have a drink of water and snuggle into bed with me.”

Pollyanne encounters numerous heart-warming experiences with Smokey all the time. For instance, Pollyanne shares, “We live down the road from my daughter, and quite often she would invite us to dinner, and of course, we take Smokey. If Smokey wants to go home, he will come to nibble me on my foot to say, let’s go home, please. If I don’t move, he will cry loudly, like a baby.”

She continues with a laugh, “Smokey loves to jump on the bed when I am making the bed and get tangled in the sheets. He is very playful and will run off the bed, jump up and down and run under the bed, a sign that he wants to play. Sometimes, he gets grumpy and I just let him be until he’s over his sulky mood. If I ignore him, he bites, but I have a strict no to biting or scratching. If Smokey wants to go out at night, he will always come to the side of my bed and cry until I am up to let him out for the toilet.”

Smokey is a very sensitive cat. Pollyanne says affectionately, “Smokey knows when I am not feeling the best and will sit with me until I feel better. He has been with me at the most emotional times of my life, and somehow, he seems to make everything seem so simple. The love I receive from him is all I need to carry on, he is such a comfort in my life and is truly a wonderful pet.”

Pollyanne was relocating to Wellington, New Zealand. “I thought I would have to leave Smokey behind, but I knew he would not survive without me, or me without him,” says Pollyanne.

Pollyanne began her search for an international pet relocation company where Smokey would be well looked after during his journey to Wellington. Pollyanne says, “I could not get satisfactory communication from the other pet travel company that I was talking with. I needed the assurance that Smokey was not just a cat and wanted to be convinced that he would be well-looked after during the journey.”

Pollyanne then reached out to Petraveller to manage her pet’s relocation to Wellington. Pollyanne says, “As soon as I spoke to Petraveller over the phone, I knew I was going to go with them. Petraveller was full of joy and made my day, especially after experiencing the disappointment I received from the other company. I am pleased and comfortable with the arrangements. I’m very happy that Smokey was well looked after.”

Smokey had an amazing flight and landed safely in Wellington. Thank you, Pollyanne, for using Petraveller to relocate dear Smokey to New Zealand. We wish you lots of fun and laughter and hope you have many more heart-warming experiences with charming Smokey.
