Sunny, Tilly, Buddy and Karen

Sydney to Christchurch

Trip Overview

Owner: Karen Owen

Origin: Sydney

Pet Names: Sunny, Tilly and Buddy

Destination: Christchurch

Breed: Domestic Shorthair, Domestic Longhair and Maltese x Shih Tzu

“Petraveller had 5-star feedback on Google.”

Petraveller helped pet mom Karen relocate her adorable kitties Sunny and Tilly and her dog Buddy from Sydney to Christchurch. Karen talks about her furry family and explains what led her to Petraveller for the international pet transport.

Buddy is a three-year-old Maltese-Shih Tzu cross. He is a delightful little dog, full of energy but wary of strangers and submissive in strange environments. Karen smiles and says, “He does not show aggression to strangers but will bark and then hide. He likes the company of other dogs but doesn’t enjoy big energetic dogs. Maybe he’s worried he will get squashed. He loves a tummy rub, and of course, sitting on the odd lap or two. He is a much-loved member of our family.”

The two cats, Domestic Long Hair Tilly and Domestic Shorthair Sunny, are siblings. Karen says, “They are completely different in personalities.”

Speaking about Buddy, Karen laughs and shares, “He can run a hundred miles an hour just like a rabbit. We do have a good laugh when he is running and sees a puddle of water. He will launch himself over it to avoid getting his paws wet. He can jump vertically to try and see his food bowl when we are getting it ready on the kitchen bench. When he’s dreaming, he makes woofy sounds, and we think he is dreaming of chasing kangaroos!”

Tilly is small, and of a darker colour with long fluffy hair. Karen says, “She is timid with humans but extremely comfortable with our dog Buddy. She dislikes loud noises and will often hide when the vacuum cleaner is out or when new people arrive in the house. When she comes for cuddles, it is pretty special.”

On the other hand, Sunny is a big cat, lighter coloured than Tilly, with short hair. He loves humans and loves a cuddle or a lap to sit on. Karen says, “I think he would prefer to be the only animal in the house and can be rather mean to Buddy. He is very confident with loud noises.”

Karen was moving back home to Christchurch, New Zealand to be closer to her family. Sunny, Tilly and Buddy were travelling with her as Karen couldn’t imagine relocating without her fur babies.

Karen decided to seek the assistance of an international pet transport company that specialises in relocating pets. She reached out to Petraveller based on the online reviews of happy customers. Karen says, “Petraveller has a 5-star online reputation on Google.”

We are glad to say that Sunny, Tilly and Buddy were well-mannered during their journey and made it safely to Christchurch. Thank you, Karen, for choosing Petraveller, and we wish you lots of happiness and many memorable moments with your adorable pets in New Zealand.
