Tank, Thor, Effy and Nita

“Petraveller gave me the feeling that our pets would be well-cared for.”

Nita recently travelled with her three gorgeous fur babies, Tank, Thor and Effy, from Perth to Christchurch with Petraveller. She talks about her pets and why she decided to use Petraveller for their international relocation to Christchurch. 

The Eade family brought home Tank and Thor when they were puppies. They are brothers from the same litter. Nita smiles as she recalls, “We just saw them and knew straight away that they were the dogs for us. They both came up to me and my husband sniffing. We looked at each other, and both said Yip, and that was it.”

The Eade family got Abyssinian cat Effy through a friend of a friend. Nita remembers, “I went and saw Effy when he was only a week old. The family had a wee girl. I pulled her aside and said, “Can you please pick him up as much as you can until I come back and get him when he is old enough? She grinned and said ok. That’s how he loves cuddles.” Nita adds, “We have had Tank, Thor and Effy for years, and they have moved with us to four different houses.”

Adorable Staffordshire Terrier Tank is a very loyal doggo. Nita shares, “When Tank and Thor go exploring, Tank is always the first one to come back when we call them. He likes to be with you all the time. Tank always tries and sneaks over to get a pat, which of course, we love!” She continues, “However, Tank is also a scaredy-cat, and thunder freaks him out. He is a big softy.”

Tank’s brother, Thor, is a very independent dog. Nita laughs and says, “We describe Thor as an old man. He is a big sook and listens better than Tank. If Thor could talk, this is what he would be telling Tank and Effy – This is fine guys, Mum and Dad will be coming soon. I think Thor will handle the international travel the best.”

Nita describes Effy as a scaredy-cat. “Effy loves his cuddles, however, only from my husband and me, and only when he is ready for a cuddle. Effy says hello to our friends and family but doesn’t like to be cuddled as he doesn’t like strangers,” says Nita.

The Eade family were moving to Christchurch, New Zealand, for a change. Nita says, “There was never a conversation about should the boys and Effy come. The first conversation was, I wonder how much it will cost. They are our children and we wouldn’t leave them behind.”

Like most pet parents, Nita was worried about having her pets go through the relocation process. She realised that relocating three pets internationally was not an easy task and decided to hand over the job to professionals who are experts in handling international pet relocations. Nita started looking for pet travel companies who could organise to get Tank, Thor and Effy safely to Christchurch. She received five quotes but chose to go with Petraveller.
