Viva and Christine

Adelaide to Auckland

Trip Overview

Owner: Christine Nelson

Origin: Adelaide

Pet Name: Viva

Destination: Auckland

Breed: Domestic Shorthair

“Viva loves outings in our van.”

Christine and her lovely Domestic Shorthair cat, Viva, travelled from Adelaide to Auckland with Petraveller. She talks about her pet and tells us why she chose Petraveller for Viva’s international relocation.

Viva became a part of the Nelson family when he was a tiny kitten of less than eight weeks. Christine and Viva share an incredible bond. Christine says affectionately, “Viva is very attached to me but is not affectionate. He doesn’t like being fussed over and never sits on laps. However, he shows his affection by following me around and crying if I leave.”

Domestic Shorthair kitty Viva is not playful like most cats. Christine elaborates, “As a kitten, Viva’s only real game was climbing everything. He only played with one soft toy, killing it rather than playing – more like a puppy than a kitten. He has never chased a string, or followed a ball. We put out small amounts of food around the house for him to hunt or throw biscuits for him to catch to give him exercise and keep him stimulated.”

Speaking about her pet’s nature, Christine laughs and shares, “Viva loves outings in our van and walks on a leash. However, he has embarrassed us by attacking a dog that got too close to his van. He hates dogs but is fascinated by them. That being said, Viva is also terrified of other cats.”

The Nelson family were relocating to Auckland, New Zealand, for work. Christine decided to choose an accredited international pet transport company to assist her in relocating Viva. Talking about the reason she chose Petraveller, Christine says, “Petraveller was recommended by a friend who is a vet.”

We are overjoyed to say that Viva had an easy and stress-free journey to Auckland and is settled in well in his new home. Thank you, Christine, for trusting Petraveller with adorable Viva. We wish you lots of happiness and many more memorable outings with Viva.
