Willow and Kim

Melbourne to Dublin

Trip Overview

Owner: Kim Baker

Origin: Melbourne

Pet Name: Willow

Destination: Dublin

Breed: Miniature Poodle x Maltese

“Willow is our best friend and ultimate sidekick.”

Here’s the relocation story of a blue-eyed beauty, Willow, who can bring a smile to your face within seconds. Read to know more about Willow and her international pet travel from Melbourne to Dublin.

Willow became a part of Kim’s family three months after Kim and her partner moved to Melbourne from Dublin. Kim recollects, “We saw Willow by chance at a cash register in a pet shop while discovering Melbourne. This was a shock to us as that’s not possible back home. Willow was the last of the litter, had been there for three months. Due to her blue eye, Willow looked a little different from most puppies. Willow licked my face, nibbled my partner's coat and within seconds, we fell in love! A day later, with the landlord’s approval, she was ours!”

Kim and Willow share a beautiful bond. Kim says affectionately, “Willow is our best friend and ultimate sidekick. She has made the hard days so much easier and can add a smile to your face within seconds, it’s her secret weapon. In lockdown, we would have been lost without her.”

Kim talks about her pet’s personality. She says, “Willow is shy and nervous with new people or strangers. But if there’s a ball or a treat around, she becomes more interested in getting to know you. Willow jumps for the ball like an athlete, and the frisbee is no match for her and those Poodle legs. Her favourite part of the day is going to the park for a run.”

Willow is a nervous and shy dog. Kim says, “We have been working on her confidence and crate training her before her big adventure.”

Willow and her best friend, a Cavalier named Harry, love playing together. Kim says fondly, “Willow and Harry spend weekends trying to find new spots to dig holes together in the garden without getting caught. Willow is a very active dog but also loves her comfort and has no problem taking over the couch or your lap when she’s feeling a little sleepy. Her favourite night time toy is a bunny that she got on her first day with us. Three years later, the bunny is still hanging in there!”

Kim was moving back to Dublin, Ireland, for work commitments. “Melbourne has been an amazing journey for us, but we are looking forward to reconnecting with family. We never considered leaving Willow behind, she is a part of our family. We can’t wait for her to spend time with our family in Dublin. It’s very exciting that we get to take her home. There are a lot of people who are very excited to meet her,” says Kim excitedly.

Kim decided to hire the services of an international pet relocation company to help relocate her pet safely to Ireland. Kim shares, “We had looked at one other pet travel agency before Petraveller, but we found multiple reviews on an expat group that consistently recommended Petraveller as the best company in this space.” Kim then reached out to Petraveller to help move her pet dog from Melbourne to Dublin.

Kim continues, “We found that the recommendations were true from the moment we picked up the phone. The service we have received has been amazing. Taking your pet halfway across the world is daunting enough but Petraveller made it so much easier.”

We are glad to say that Willow made her journey to Dublin in good health and is now happily exploring her new surroundings. Thank you, Kim, for trusting Petraveller with your precious dog Willow. We wish you many fun and exciting adventures with darling Willow in Ireland!
