Sir Cattrick Stewart, Nissa and Ceridwen

Sydney to Copenhagen

Trip Overview

Owner: Ceridwen Boel

Origin: Sydney

Pet Name: Sir Cattrick Stewart and Nissa

Destination: Copenhagen

Breed: Domestic Shorthair

“Petraveller was the only pet travel company that made me feel safe and reassured.”

Ceridwen and her gorgeous felines Sir Cattrick Stewart and Nissa relocated from Sydney to Copenhagen with Petraveller. Ceridwen talks about their personalities and shares their relocation experience.

Ceridwen adopted Nissa in early 2015 when Nissa was only a few months old. She was abandoned by her previous owners and surrendered to the Cat Protection Society. Nissa was originally brought into the household with a free-range bunny, and the two of them became remarkably close. Ceridwen says with a smile, “I think she started to think she was a rabbit too; she spent an awful lot of time in the rabbit’s hutch trying to eat hay.”

In 2016, Ceridwen adopted Sir Cattrick Stewart after her rabbit died and Nissa was suddenly all alone. She says, “He was also surrendered to the Cat Protection Society as a kitten and was about six months old when I adopted him.”

Nissa is an incredibly gentle cat. Ceridwen says, “I worked in a cattery for five years, and I’ve met a lot of cats, but she’s the gentlest cat I’ve ever met. In the four and a half years that I’ve owned her, I’ve never once been scratched, even when she’s startled or afraid.” She adds, “She has taught Sir Cattrick to be gentle over time as well.”

Nissa is a clingy cat and has some major separation anxiety. She is a highly food motivated cat too. “She’s quite easy going and very affectionate, and tends to bounce back quickly”, says Ceridwen.

Ceridwen describes Sir Cattrick Stewart as timid, affectionate, and far too smart. She says, “He’s much more easily startled and takes a few days to warm up to new places and new people. He seems to prefer men over women, for some reason. He’ll do these really cute tricks with a few select men in my life, but never for me.”

Ceridwen adds, “He’s extremely concerned about tray hygiene. If the tray is dirty, he won’t use it until I clean it for him, and he’ll sit in front of it and mew until I do my human duties.”

Ceridwen was relocating to Copenhagen with the cats. She says, “I was originally planning the relocation for work. I met my fiancé there on one of my work trips, and this time I’m moving there permanently.” She did consider leaving her cats behind with her ex-partner who still loves them dearly, but couldn’t do it. “I considered rehoming them, but I couldn’t find anyone I trusted to care for them as much and as well as I do,” says Ceridwen.

Ceridwen was very anxious about putting the cats through an international trip of that length. She searched for pet travel options and spoke to few pet travel companies before she settling on Petraveller. She says, “Petraveller was the only company that made me feel safe and reassured.”

Sir Cattrick Stewart and Nissa made the journey with great ease and are now well settled in their new home in Copenhagen. Ceridwen says, “They have discovered that radiators are wonderful warm spots that never go away. They are gradually adjusting to the new time zone, and to the fact that it is dark for two-thirds of the day.”

Ceridwen had a great experience with Petraveller. She says, “The team was very helpful and patient with me, especially when I was dealing with the messy logistics of the travel dates, living arrangements and crate delivery addresses. Petraveller was so understanding and easy to deal with. I especially appreciated all the check-ins, and updates during the move.”

Thank you, Ceridwen for trusting us with your adorable kitty cats. We wish you good luck with your new beginnings and lots of cuddles to Sir Cattrick Stewart and Nissa.
